Porcine Cross-Reactivity In Human Simoa Assays NSE, NF-Light™, GFAP, And cTnI; A TBI Study

App Note

The Quanterix Simoa HD-1 Analyzer offers an unprecedented ability to measure low abundant brain injury proteins in human circulation. A Yorkshire swine experimental traumatic brain injury (TBI) model that is used to study novel neuroprotective therapies for TBI provides an excellent opportunity for studying the kinetics of blood biomarkers of brain injury. This study explored the potential porcine cross-reactivity in human assays for:

  • neuron-specific enolase (NSE),
  • Neurofilament light (NF-Light™),
  • glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), and
  • cardiac Troponin I (cTnI).
